Prom is an institution in American culture as well as in numerous other places worldwide, a high interest, high stakes school event that holds great importance for our high school students and their families.
For this reason, every prom-related decision, policy, and guideline is going to affect a lot of people and garner a lot of attention.
Through the years, I coordinated twenty different high school proms at seven different off-site venues as well as on-site at my school.
For years, I have helped other teachers with their prom planning, and I am always happy to share my resources and provide advice!

So why did I decide to write a prom planning handbook?
I wrote The Ultimate Prom Planning Handbook to help other prom sponsors and make it easier for them to plan a wonderful event for their students.
Because high school prom is such a big event for students and their families, prom planners have to consider the needs and interests of a large and diverse group of people as well as make sure the rules and guidelines they create don't invite controversy or litigation.
As much as I enjoyed coordinating my school’s prom, the responsibility that accompanies organizing such a huge and important school event was overwhelming!
Through the years I made a lot of mistakes and dealt with about every type of problem imaginable—from prom night wardrobe malfunctions to deadly weather conditions--and I learned from every single situation I handled!
